Carl is an "enormous African-American kid...from Jersey" who moved to New York City and began attending the same school as Dave Lizewski and Katie Deauxma.
He eventually began dating Katie, and subsequently beat up Dave at her request when she discovered that Dave was not gay as he had pretended to be.
